Chasing an Early Morning Texas Slam at Seawolf Park

Eduardo and I started the morning before sunrise, grabbing live shrimp and heading straight to Seawolf Park. Getting there early paid off almost immediately when Eduardo landed a small redfish. Not long after, He hooked into a 13-inch flounder on a drop shot. Suddenly, we realized a Texas slam—redfish, flounder, and speckled trout—might actually happen before breakfast. 

The speckled trout eventually started biting, and changing to smaller hook helped me connect with one. Between bites, Eduardo and I did what we normally do—talked about everything from fishing and technology to data centers, growing Texas communities, and the amount of trash we're seeing at public fishing spots.

The toughest moment came when I hooked what felt like the best fish of the morning, only to lose it when the knot failed.

By late morning, we were hungry and ready to call it. We headed to Darlene's Shrimp Shack, where we unexpectedly met Vast Roam viewers visiting from Round Rock. After talking fishing and sharing a few Galveston-area spots, it was finally time to eat.

The fried shrimp didn't disappoint. After a productive morning on the water, meeting viewers and finishing with some great Gulf Coast food made for a pretty solid day.
