Fishing and Faith in Indianola, Texas

Some fishing trips are all about the fish, and some are about everything else that happens along the way. Eduardo's day started at Indianola Fishing Marina with one goal in mind: catch a few fish and explore some new water along the Texas coast. Of course, the first thing he needed was coffee.

The fishing started slow, and before long he found himself battling one of his longtime rivals—a hardhead catfish. But the most unexpected part of the day came when he stopped fishing for a while and sat through a church service being held at the marina. Eduardo grew up Catholic, and while there are differences between churches, the message that day really spoke to him. It felt like he was exactly where he needed to be.

Afterward, Eduardo treated himself to the famous Jacob's Burger, which definitely lived up to the hype, and eventually landed his first speckled trout of the day. He even hooked into a much bigger trout later, but unfortunately lost it at the pier.

As the day went on, Eduardo bounced between fishing spots around Indianola and Magnolia Beach, fighting mosquitoes, catching more hardheads, and searching for another good bite. The fishing never really turned on, but that was okay.

The day ended with a shower at Magnolia Beach, a beautiful sunset over the water, and another night sleeping beside the Texas coast in the van. Sometimes the best part of a fishing trip isn't what you catch—it's the experiences you collect along the way.
