Fishing in Palacios Texas

We just finished a trip to fish in Palacios Texas. My parents are building a tiny bay house there so we have been going on weekends to work on the house and cut the grass. We have been stopping in at a restaurant called The Point for breakfast tacos so we shot some video there too. Great weekend!

One of my favorite things about Palacios, Texas, is how peaceful it feels. Before hitting the water, I stopped at The Point for breakfast with my parents. Their breakfast tacos never disappoint, and it's become a tradition whenever we're visiting the family bay house.

After breakfast, my dad and I headed to a local pier to do some fishing. The water was calm, almost like glass, and I started throwing a Gulp lure hoping to find a flounder. The bite was slow, but being out there brought back memories of fishing these same waters with my son Diego when he was younger. We still joke about "Charlie the Flounder," the big fish that got away years ago.

As I worked the pier, I thought about how much fishing with my dad has meant to me. Some of my best childhood memories came from fishing trips, party boats, and long days spent learning lessons that had nothing to do with catching fish. He taught me to take care of my gear, work hard, and stay busy.

Later, I caught a few sand trout and even a hardhead catfish, but the real highlight was spending time with family. We also toured the bay house my parents designed and built. Knowing it will stay in our family for generations makes it even more special.

Sometimes the best fishing trips aren't about the fish at all—they're about the memories you make along the way.
