Fishing Packery Channel Jetty in Corpus Christi
Daniel Lopez
Eduardo and I headed to the north side of Packery Channel for a morning of jetty fishing. We couldn't find any live bait, so we grabbed our artificial lures and some dead bait then decided to see what we could make happen.
While fishing, Eduardo mentioned wanting to start collecting something, which turned into a conversation about vintage fishing gear. I told him about old wooden lures, reels, and even some of the equipment my dad used when I was growing up. The idea of building a small fishing museum with gear from different eras and places actually sounded pretty cool.
Fishing the jetty itself was challenging with boats and jet skis constantly creating wakes, but we eventually found a productive setup. I started catching small fish one after another while the score climb to seven to nothing.
We didn't land the big trout or redfish we were hoping for, but between the fishing, old memories, and plenty of trash talk, it was another memorable day at Packery Channel jetties.
