Fishing Sylvan Beach Pier in La Porte, Texas

Daniel Lopez

Eduardo decided to head down to Sylvan Beach Pier for a little solo fishing. His goal was to catch some keeper fish and hopefully land a big flounder before I could catch my famous Charlie.

The morning started slowly with a small croaker and a stingray. After getting nowhere with artificial lures and a popping cork, Eduardo switched to fishing shrimp on the bottom, and things finally started improving.

He landed a 15.5-inch flounder, followed by a small black drum and a little redfish. Nothing was big enough to take home, but catching that flounder felt pretty good.

Eduardo sent me a picture, and I jokingly replied, "I hate you," along with a photo of myself working.

He also met a viewer named Ricardo, who told him our videos inspired him to fishing there too.

After wrapping up, Eduardo stopped at a nearby Cuban café for a sandwich recommended by another fisherman.

Not a bad solo fishing day!
