Fishing the Trinity River: Alligators, Gar and a New Adventure

Eduardo and I headed to the Trinity River near Anahuac after one of our Vast Roam followers recommended the area. We had seen that they were catching drum out there, so we decided to make the roughly hour-long drive and give it a shot. 

Right away, we realized this wasn't going to be an ordinary fishing trip. We spotted several alligators in the water, including a couple of big ones, and later saw a huge gar swimming nearby.

The fishing started slowly, so Eduardo and I had plenty of time to talk. We discussed my son Diego's journey from wrestling into visual arts and animation, including his decision to pursue something he's loved since childhood. That conversation eventually turned to AI, technology, SpaceX, electric vehicles, and what the future might look like.

Eventually, we started catching a few fish, including hardheads, a gafftop and a ladyfish. We even threw the ladyfish back out as bait, hoping something much bigger would take it.

The monster never showed up, and this time the fish won.

Before heading home, Eduardo and I stopped for Mexican hot dogs. We tried several different combinations, including one with pineapple.

We didn't catch anything huge, but between the alligators, fishing, conversations, trash talk and food, it turned into a pretty memorable day.
