Night Fishing at Clem’s Marina

Daniel Lopez

Eduardo and I had some time to kill before fishing, so we stopped at Roy’s Bait & Tackle to check out the massive selection and pick up a few new lures and hooks.

Later, we headed to Clem’s Marina in Corpus Christi, a spot someone had recommended in the comments. We heard the fishing could get good after dark, so we brought live bait and more artificial lures and waited for the green lights to come alive.

The frustrating part was seeing speckled trout schooling right underneath us without getting them to bite. We tried different lures, bait, and presentations, but they weren't interested.

Eventually, the bite finally turned on. We landed a ladyfish, croaker, and then I caught a small speckled trout under the green lights. It ended up being the only speck caught on the pier that night.

It wasn't an easy night of fishing, but figuring out how to get one trout to bite made the trip worth it.
