Port O'Connor Jetty - Fishing a Hidden Texas Gem

Eduardo returned to Port O'Connor eager to fish the jetty again after enjoying great success there on a previous trip. While talking with local anglers, he learned just how highly they regarded the area, with many calling it some of the best fishing on the Texas coast outside of Port Mansfield. The conversations quickly turned into stories of trophy trout, missed opportunities, and the heartbreak of fish that escaped at the last second.

Eduardo shared a frustrating story of his own—losing a camera on the jetties just days earlier. Along with the camera went an entire day's worth of footage featuring several quality speckled trout, making it one of the toughest setbacks of his journey. Despite the disappointment, he remained determined to keep fishing and make new memories.

As rain clouds moved into the area, Eduardo left the jetty and spent time waiting out the weather in Seadrift. He explored several fishing spots, but muddy water, constant snags, and persistent rain made catching fish difficult. Even so, he refused to let the conditions ruin the day, moving from spot to spot in search of better opportunities.

Throughout the trip, Eduardo reflected on life as a full-time fishing traveler. Although he enjoyed the freedom of living in his van and exploring the Texas coast, he admitted that solo travel could sometimes be lonely. Fortunately, friendly conversations with fellow anglers along the way reminded him that the fishing community is filled with welcoming people. Even on slow days, those connections made every mile of the journey worthwhile.
