Van Life Fishing in Port Lavaca & Magnolia Beach Texas

After spending the night stealth camping in a parking lot, Eduardo started his morning in Port Lavaca, Texas. It was his first time sleeping in a parking lot, and thankfully the night was quiet with no issues from security.

With coffee on his mind and fishing gear ready, he headed to the Port Lavaca Pier hoping for a productive day on the water. After receiving helpful advice from local angler Fred McKenny, Eduardo moved around the pier searching for active fish. While the action was slow, he managed to catch a few fish, including another gafftop and a ladyfish before it escaped.

As temperatures climbed and the bite slowed, Eduardo decided to visit a local tackle shop to restock his gear. Later, he made his way to Magnolia Beach, a unique Texas coastal destination where visitors can camp directly on the beach for up to 14 days.

Fishing near the crabbing bridge, he heard stories about a large alligator seen in the area and continued working the shoreline. Persistence finally paid off when he landed a small redfish. It wasn't the trophy fish he was hoping for, but it was enough to end the day on a positive note as he prepared to spend the night along the Texas coast.
