In this episode, we headed out to Six Mile Park in Port Lavaca Texas for the first time, and from the moment we pulled up, I had a good feeling about it. We even saw a shooting star on the way in, so I told the guys it was going to be a good day. The water was green and calm, nobody was around, and the pier sat nice and low to the water—just a perfect setup.
We started off throwing live shrimp under popping corks, joking around about aliens, AI, and whether Texas would tag one if they landed here. In between all the laughs, the fish started biting. I hooked into a couple of speckled trout early and we let a few undersized ones go. Diego added a small black drum to the mix, and the bite stayed steady.
The crazy part is that in two days it marks @Eduardo “Oso”'s one-year anniversary of getting his fishing license. Over the past year, he has caught reds, drum, and flounder—but the one fish that had always escaped him was a speckled trout. Then it finally happened.
Eduardo hooked into his first-ever speckled trout. It wasn’t a monster, but it didn’t matter. After a full year of fishing, Eduardo finally checked that box. It felt earned. Now the only thing left? Go get a bigger one.
