After receiving a tip from a subscriber Eduardo met at a bait shop in Port Lavaca, Eduardo decided to spend the day fishing near Olivia, Texas. The subscriber recommended a bridge just outside town, claiming it had produced some great catches in the past. With high hopes, Eduardo made the stop and began working the area despite strong winds that made fishing difficult from the start.
The conditions proved challenging. The wind made it nearly impossible to throw artificial lures effectively, forcing Eduardo to fish on the bottom for most of the day. Unfortunately, the only fish willing to bite were gafftop catfish. Catch after catch produced the same result, and the hoped-for redfish never appeared.
Rather than letting the slow fishing ruin the day, Eduardo shifted his focus to life on the road. He set up his camp kitchen and cooked a healthy chicken sandwich using supplies stored in the van. While it would have been easier to grab fast food, Eduardo remained committed to eating better during the trip and making the most of the van life experience.
A second fishing session later in the day brought even less action. After two more hours without a single bite, Eduardo finally accepted that the fish simply were not cooperating. Still, as the sun began to set over the Texas coast, Eduardo couldn't help but appreciate where he was. The fishing had been tough, but another day spent exploring, learning, and living freely on the road felt like a victory all its own.
