Fishing Palacios, Texas

Eduardo and I head down to Palacios, Texas after spending the morning helping my parents move some things around their bay house. Once we finish up, we decide to squeeze in a little fishing. It’s also the first real outing in my new Tacoma, so I’m pretty excited to finally get it down by the water.

We start at a spot someone recommended on a forum, but it’s packed and the wind is ripping, so we bounce around—first the big pier, then finally a more protected area under a bridge. The conditions aren’t great, but we make the best of it. We fish shrimp on simple rigs, talk about Thanksgiving, life, and random stuff between casts, just enjoying the day.

The bite is slow but steady for me. I keep catching little pup black drum—nothing big, but they fight hard and keep things fun. Eduardo, on the other hand, gets skunked most of the day, and we give each other a hard time about it. We even get checked by a game warden, which adds a little excitement.

Right before we leave, Eduardo finally lands one, and we end the day happy. No trophies, just a peaceful afternoon fishing together—and honestly, that’s more than enough.
