We go fishing in Seadrift Texas with hopes of catching some Speckled Trout and we actually catch them. The morning’s overcast and calm, and it feels like perfect trout weather. After grabbing bait, we even run into a subscriber who gives us tips about fishing the harbor later, which gets us even more excited to try different spots. We start off throwing a topwater and then switch to live shrimp under a popping cork, fishing the way I learned as a kid with my dad.
Before long, we’re into fish. The speckled trout are stacked up, and we start catching steady numbers. We decided to swap to single hooks to protect the fish and just enjoy the action. Between casts, we joke around, coach Junior, and talk about family and Christmas.
The highlight of the day is watching Junior. He catches his first speckled trout—a 17-inch keeper—and later lands fish on an artificial lure for the first time. Seeing him learn and build confidence honestly makes the trip for me. We catch on our Texas Made Lures too, including trout and even a small redfish.
For us, it’s not just about the fish—it’s about family, teaching the next generation, and sharing the experience with our community.
