Fishing with Grandfather in Palacios Texas

We go fishing in with my father "The Original" and my son in Palacios TX. Three generations fish together as a grandson ask his grandfather questions about his past while fishing in Palacios, Texas.

The day starts off grabbing breakfast with the crew at Elmer’s Taco Stand before we head down to Palacios to check on my parents’ place and hit a few fishing spots. I’ve got the Original—my dad—out with us, plus Eduardo and Diego behind the camera, so I already know it’s going to be a good day no matter what we catch. The weather’s overcast and cool, perfect for fishing, and the tacos and crispy bacon get us started right.

Once we get to the pier, my Dad wastes no time. He’s already rigged up and fishing while we’re still setting up. We start picking up bites, and I land a tiny baby red and a couple croakers. It turns into a friendly competition between me and Eduardo, talking trash and keeping score while Diego jumps in to fish too.

Some of my favorite moments aren’t even about the fish. Diego interviews his Grandpa about how he started fishing, meeting Grandma, and growing up on the farm. Hearing those stories makes the trip feel special. Then, like always, Dad proves he’s the Original by casually pulling a flounder right from under the pylons exactly where he said they’d be.

We bounce to one last roadside spot, laugh a lot, and finish with Diego catching a hardhead on the final cast. Overall, it’s just one of those simple, perfect days—family, fishing, and memories I’ll always be glad we filmed.
