When we started fishing more I found myself watching more fishing videos and hands down Keven Aguilar of GG Anglers was one of my favorite. We recently had the opportunity to have Keven join us on the podcast and we really had a ton of fun speaking with him. Having him on felt surreal because I’ve binged his videos for the past year, learning from the way he fishes and teaches. Hearing his story in person made me respect him even more.
Keven shared how his love for fishing started casually with family trips when he was younger, but everything changed around 2020 during COVID. After getting his first car, he and his friends started hitting spots like the Texas City Dyke with toy rods just for fun. They didn’t even catch anything at first, but they got hooked on the grind. What really inspired me was that he didn’t wait until he was “good” to start YouTube—he picked up a camera before he even knew how to fish.
We talked a lot about the work behind the scenes too—late nights editing, sacrificing sleep, juggling jobs, and eventually betting on himself to go full time with content. That part really hit home for me. People only see the catches, not the 4 a.m. edits and missed shifts.
More than anything, it felt like talking to a regular guy who just stayed consistent. Hearing his journey motivated me to keep pushing our own channel and reminded me why we fish in the first place—it’s peace, passion, and the memories we make.
