We return to fish Palacios TX again with hopes of full stringers of Speckled Trout. We spent a morning fishing at my parents’ place in Palacios, Texas. We stopped for tacos at Elmer’s in Blessing, then arrived at the small pier where I’d previously caught a tiny speckled trout on a Texas Made Lures paddle tail. This time we got up at 5:00, brought live and dead shrimp plus crab, and set out multiple rigs to see what we’d find.
We talked about boxing—Canelo vs. Crawford—old pay-per-view memories, and bingeing crime shows while swapping fishing tips. The morning produced mostly hardheads and lost shrimp; I couldn’t replicate that speckled trout I’d shown earlier.
We moved from my parents’ pier to the Pavilion Pier where we met subscribers who suggested better spots. Between reeling, rig adjustments, and friendly trash talk about who outcast whom, the camaraderie made the trip worthwhile.
