Palacios Texas Fishing Piers

I always say that even on the worst fishing days, it still beats being anywhere else. We headed out to Palacios after helping my dad with some work around the house, figuring we’d spend the rest of the day chasing fish. The water was unbelievably low — probably the lowest I’ve ever seen — but once you’re already out there, you make the best of it.

We bounced from pier to pier all day trying to avoid getting skunked, talking about everything from hurricanes and generators to doomsday preppers and comedy sets. That’s honestly what makes fishing trips memorable sometimes — not even the fish, but the conversations in between casts. One minute we were debating whether bunkers make sense, the next we were laughing about getting older and waking up injured for no reason.

At one point, we started talking about the new Cohesive Podcast and how fun it’s been building something outside of fishing. Meeting people along the pier reminded me why I enjoy making videos in the first place. Even when nobody’s catching fish, everybody’s got stories to tell.

By the end of the day, we still hadn’t caught much, but sitting on the water with the Texas wind at our backs felt like enough. Sometimes the peace of being out there is the real catch.
