We Hooked a MONSTER Black Drum in Louisiana!

We made the trip down to Louisiana looking for a new fishing spot and ended up at the ferry landing near Holly Beach in Cameron Parish. Right away, the place had a different vibe from Texas — quiet water, ferry traffic, and that feeling that something big could be lurking underneath.

We started with fresh crab and mullet, hoping to hook into some “big uglies.” The action picked up fast with hardhead catfish and a massive gafftop that put up a surprisingly good fight. But the real excitement came when the drum started biting. We lost a couple good fish after getting tangled up, but finally everything came together when Eduardo hooked into a huge black drum. After some teamwork on the shoreline, we landed it successfully.

The trip wasn’t just about fishing either. Between casts, we talked about old fishing stories, road trip memories, movies, and random life experiences that somehow only happen on long days near the water. That’s honestly one of the best parts of these trips — the conversations become just as memorable as the catches.

We finished the day exploring roadside fishing spots, catching a croaker for bait, and trying to beat the incoming rain before heading home. Louisiana treated us well!
